Fall 2022 Update

Oct 2022

We are well into the final quarter of 2022 and we aren’t slowing down anytime soon!

We are beyond excited to share some of the accomplishments and awards our CAO, Kristen Chambers, has been honored with over the last few months. Kristen was nominated to receive the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal. This is a new commemorative medal that has been established to mark the 70th Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal recognizes the significant contribution of outstanding Albertans. Kristen has also been nominated for a 2022 Minister’s Seniors Service Award (MSSA). Since 1998, 172 Albertans have received this award for exceptional, service in improving lives of Alberta seniors and their communities. In addition, Kristen has also received Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Pin. The Canadian Platinum Jubilee emblem was created to mark the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s ascension to the throne and is awarded to those who have demonstrated qualities extolled by Her Majesty the Queen: public service, dedication, and sacrifice. This pin was presented to Kristen by our MP for Yellowhead County, Gerald Soroka.  Join us in congratulating Kristen on these honorable awards! Kristen’s passion, dedication and drive for advocating for seniors is tireless and we are beyond proud to have her as our leader- we can’t wait to see what she does next!!

We would like to formally introduce and welcome our new Director of Human Resources, Deep Kaur to The Evergreens Foundation. Deep brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from a variety of corporate HR settings. We are excited and honored to have her join the foundation as we shape our future success.  We believe Deep will be a key component of our foundation’s growth, and look forward to integrate her experience and knowledge with our mission to facilitate quality of life for all residents by doing what it takes to offer comfort, connection, safety, smiles and support.

Cory Le Drew stepped into his role of Director of Operations earlier this year and has been internally promoted to Chief Operations Officer. This promotion recognizes the contributions Cory has made throughout his tenure with The Foundation and the vast knowledge and broad skill set he brings to the table from his previous roles. He has played an essential role with the design and project management of our new Pine Valley Lodge facility, and with the design of our Victor Lake and Wildwood projects. Cory will now begin working on streamlining the operations of our existing facilities and building partnerships within our sites, with suppliers and other Colleagues doing similar work in the Province.

Current Project Updates:

The development of the land and progression with Victor Lake continues steadily. A contest was held in September giving the pubic an opportunity to submit their ideas for the name of the Lodge. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement of the winning name submission.

We are excited to share that the Putting Green Turf project at Whispering Pines Lodge in Grande Cache is complete. It was finished in time for residents to enjoy on the tail end of summer and we look forward to seeing the enjoyment continue next spring. If you ever happen to be in Grande Cache stop by and check it out—the views from the green are absolutely stunning. It was lovely to see board members attend the opening ceremony. A shout out to our Asset Manager, Dale Barembruch, for his creativity and passion to see this project transpire from an idea to reality.

The much-anticipated Pickle Ball Court and Putting Green Turf at Pine Valley Lodge in Hinton have been completed as well. October brought opening ceremonies for both of these amenities; we have been so fortunate with the weather this fall. Thank you to the Hinton Golf Course for their generous donation of Putters for our residents to use on the new green. Also, we would like to thank the Hinton Pickle Ball Club for coming out and demonstrating how to play Pickle Ball. This really got the residents excited! We encourage members of the community to come and use the Pickle Ball Courts as the are open to the public as well.

We are also excited to announce the opening of the Hair Salon at Pine Valley Lodge! Welcome Mehl at Flip Side Hair Salon. Mehl will be taking care of the hair and beauty services for our Residents and members of the community as well. For an appointment, please call 403-844-0463

On a final note, we would like to recognize our Staff and Management Teams at Alpine Summit Seniors Lodge and Pine Grove Manor in Jasper. They pulled together during the Chetamon Wildfire and ensured the high standard of care our residents and tenants are accustomed to was maintained during this challenging time. We would also like to acknowledge the staff and management at Pine Valley Lodge for assisting with housing some of these residents at their Lodge when the power was lost in Jasper. It is fantastic to see our communities coming together to support our seniors.  Nothing makes us prouder as a Foundation, so Thank you All.
